Department of Public Courses Teaching

 

Introduction of the Department:

The Department of public courses teaching of BiJie vocational and technical college grew out of the public courses teaching and research section of previous Bijie agricultural school in 2008. Since its founding, all of the teachers have devoted to the teaching, students administration, and service work with an united and pragmatic spirit. They do the jobs and deal with the troubles actively and efficiently, and continuously improve their teaching level and working efficiency. The staff of the department work on and work for the education and place much importance on improving the students' moral quality and developing their abilities, and actively carry out the curriculum construction, teaching material construction, and teaching and research reform, and make a contribution to the development of Bijie vocational and technical College and the economic and social development of Bijie district.

There are 60 full-time teachers in the department, including 1 professors, 11 associate professors, 1 PhD candidate, 11 masters, 20 lecturers, 11 “double qualified” teachers. The department consists of 5 functional divisionsnamely the teaching and research groups of Chinese, English, PE, Marxism-Leninism, and sciences.

The department presently has 5 professional training rooms (chemical lab, physical lab, analytical balance room, piano room, gym room and studio) as well as 12 training bases inside and outside of the campus, and the ones inside cover a total construction area of 10000 square meters with the teaching equipment worth more than 120 million RMB.

The department shoulders the teaching task of all the public courses of the college. In addition, it owns 2 majors, which are domestic service as a higher vocational major and preschool education as a secondary vocational major. At present the number of the students at all levels is 120.

Going ahead, the department will strive to associate the teaching closely with the profession, the students, and the society by implementing rigorous teaching management and deepening the teaching reform, and will actively explore the laws of public courses teaching with the characteristics of vocational education, so as to play an important role in the promotion of the students’ basic knowledge and comprehensive quality in vocational education.

 

Introduction of the majors:

 

Domestic service

Education level: higher vocational college

Training objective: training applied high-quality professionals of household service and preparing the students to work in the civil administration departments of govenments at all levels and offer good service for communities and families.

Length of schooling: three years

Main courses: social etiquette and communication, children’s education and health care, family nursing, family financing, eugenic and superior nurture, cooking and nutrition, housekeeping management and family relations.

Employment direction: mainly go into the communities, domestic service intermediaries, management services, property management and other departments related to domestic service.

 

Preschool education

Education level: secondary vocational education

Training objective: training applied professionals who are qualified to the teaching and management of early education and fit in with the needs of the development and reform of modern preschool education.

Length of schooling: three years

Main courses: child psychology, child hygienics, pedagogics, design and guidance of activities in preschool education, design and practice of activities in kindergarten, children's manual and toy design, music, dance, and art.

Employment direction: mainly go into kindergartens, institutions of preschool education and children's training institutions to offer teaching service and management.
