Department of tourism management

 

Introduction of the department:

The department of tourism management of Bijie vocational and technical college was established in February, 2008. The department, adhering to the employment-oriented guideline and taking ability as the standard, has always been attaching importance to the training of the students’ comprehensive quality and application ability, emphasizing the imparting of Comprehensive, advanced and practical knowledge, and highlighting the teaching practice to cultivate the students’ ability to the strong technology application and innovation and the ability to adapt the posts.

The department of tourism management now comprises two higher vocational majors, tourism management and hotel management, and two secondary majors, namely hotel service and management and Chinese cuisine.

It now has 5 comprehensive training rooms, 6 practice bases inside and outside the campus, 12 professional teachers, and 6 of those are the external experts as part-time teachers. At present there are 140 full time students at all levels.

The department will strengthen the professional construction and the construction of the teaching staff to meet the needs of the development of the tourism industry in Bijie experimental district, and cultivate more high-quality professionals of tourism management for the tourism economic development of Bijie district and other areas as well.

 

Introduction of the majors:

 

Tourism Management

Education level: higher vocational college

Training objective: the department aims to train high-quality skilled professionals with hard-working quality, creative spirit and strong ability of practice, who are specializing in the tourism management.

Length of schooling: three years

Main courses: skills of guiding, basic knowledge of guiding, simulation of guiding, tourism marketing, policies and regulations of guiding, and operation and management of travel agency, tourism English.

Employment direction: mainly go into travel agencies, tourist attractions, various types of exhibition halls and other tourist enterprises and public institutions to work as first-line managers or provide the service and management for the restaurant, guest rooms and lobby of hotels.

Hotel management

Education level: higher vocational college

Training objective: the department aims at training practical high-quality professionals specializing in hotel management to work in the first line of the service and management of modern tourism hotels and restaurants.

Length of schooling: three years

Main courses: catering service and management, service and management of lobbies and guest rooms, hotel marketing, hotel practical English.

Employment direction: mainly go into all kinds of hotels, catering industry and other business to work in the first line of the service and management.

 

Hotel service and management

Education level: secondary professional education

Training objective: training professionals to offer the service and management in catering industry.

Length of schoolingthree years

Main courses: hotel management, catering service and management, service etiquette, hotel English, hotel service psychology, Chinese tea art, introduction of recreation service and management, mandarin.

 

Hotel service and management

Education level: secondary professional education

Training objective: training middle rank practical high-quality professionals with strong occupational ability to Chinese cooking.

Length of schooling: three years

Main courses: Chinese cooking skills, cooking nutrition and sanitation, Chinese style pastry skills, raw materials of Chinese food, production of hot Chinese dishes, food carving, cooking arts and handicrafts, food chemistry, service etiquette, mandarin.

Employment direction: mainly go into hotels and catering industry to provide the technical service and management of cooking, food nutrition and sanitation, pastry and hot Chinese dishes cooking.
